Reading Dog Experience

As adults we easily understand the importance of learning to read. Once children develop the skill, they need to practice in a confidence-boosting environment in order to enjoy reading. Reading with dogs is a ‘pawsitive’ experience for both two and four legged participants. The experience allows children an opportunity to practice their skill, learn new strategies, and be encouraged. Children enthusiastically respond to lessons with Miriam and her sweet Goldendoodle friend, Saya. Our Reading Dog Experience allows children to know some of the benefits of interacting with a dog. Owning a dog is expensive and time consuming. For various reasons not every family can have a dog of their own. A Reading Dog Experience allows children to know the benefits without the responsibility. 

Recent times have been stressful for everyone, including children. Our Reading Dog Experience has shown to minimize stress and anxiety. It’s no surprise that reading can, at times, be an intimidating process for some children. The Reading Dog Experience with Miriam and Saya allows a non-judgmental opportunity for children while providing a chance to develop their literacy skills, and support social-emotional learning as well.
